New Diagnosis- questions

My baby was diagnosed about a week and a half ago or so with CF. He is now 3 weeks old and still in the NICU. Prior to knowing about the CF, I was planning on going back to work after 9 weeks and putting him in a day care, but now, with the fact that he has CF, I know day cares are not the best place to have him. Suggestions with this? I know being a SAHM would probably be better for he and I... but I was also wondering if anyone has any info on any ways this may be financially feasible for a family that needs 2 incomes (or at least 1-1/2) to get through bills each month. Any government assistance that may be available... or work from home jobs that anyone is familiar with? I would like to be able to stay home with him, and make sure that he is in a safe, healthy environment and not have to take time from work for appointments that I know would be necessary.

Thanks in advance for ANY and ALL advice possible.

Im am sooo sorry you are going through this. I have been very fortunate to be able to stay home with my kids. It wasnt until this year that we really needed a second income. So what I did was start babysitting for one child. I am concidering taking on a couple more. Is that an option for you? The bonus for me is that all my kids are in school now. So That might be something to think about. Its good money if you find the right parents. Another option maybe to work an opposite shift. That way at least one of you is home all the time.

I work Full-time and my husband is a SAHD. But for extra money he works about 15-20 hours a week at night and on weekends when I am able to be home with our daughter.

Also, for a little extra money I sell items on Ebay. Mostly clothes that Emma outgrows, gifts that we cannot use, clothes we no longer wear, etc.

Check the family section. There have been lots of postings on this in the past. We found a daycare we were comfortable sending DS to and it's worked for us. But there are other options...
