hey yall, i've been reading the forums/blogs etc for a long time but actually decided to join since i've got a question!
my family is going to italy in a few days and those of you that have vests know how heavy and annoying it is to travel with them. i've got other ways of doing airway clearance (chest pt, acapella, flutter, etc) so i'm not worried about not having my vest but was just wondering if anyone had traveled this extensively with one and what your experiece was like? going through the airports in america with one is always an interesting experience and so i can't even begin to imagine what it might be like to do it abroad...anyway, just let me know!!

ps, its also really nice to have a community like this available where people *actually* know and understand what i'm talking about when talking about cf! Can't wait to get to know yall better!

Hi Jamie! Welcome aboard!

I haven't travelled to Europe at all, but I believe Amy (sakasuka) has a few times (at least ) with her vest. I know there are a few posts around here (older ones, though) about it, so if you don't hear from her or someone else soon, there are threads around here about it, if you want to do a search.

Enjoy your trip! We would love to see pics when you get back .

Hi Jaime!

Welcome aboard! I am also pretty new here, but really enjoying it.

Sorry, I don't have any experience traveling to Europe w/ my vest. I know what a pain traveling can be! I recently traveled from Nebraska to southern Califoria and Lauren (lightNlife) let me borrow her old vest during my stay! It was really great to not have to lug my vest around! Just an example of how great this site can be

Just as AnD said, you may get some good advice from Amy, I think she has traveled rather extensively with her vest. I hope you get some good feedback, and I can learn a few things too!

Have a great trip!

I seem to recall the FIRST time Amy took her vest to Europe, she had the proper electrical adapter, but not some other electrical converter (transformer?) and she just about torched her boyfriend's parents house.

IMO, contact the vest company and tell them you're travelling, so they can advise you on the proper equipment to take along. I think Amy still travels to Europe with her old Hill Rom vest because she doesn't have a transformer for the newer respirtech vest. She now has e-flow, but I think she had a European Pari Proneb she used overseas also.

Hopefully Amy's okay. Haven't seen her on this site for awhile.
