Hi everyone, I'm new here. I joined couple days ago and have just been reading stuff on the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm Mark, live in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, am 24 years old and I have CF(daw!)

A little about me: I'm not doing too bad at the moment, I workout (mainly weight lifting) very intense in fact I'm planning on competing in a bodybuilding show coming up here in June so I'm pumping out hell in the gym for these last weeks leading up to it. I aint that big of a guy so dont think that, I'm only 5'4" and weigh between 126-130(I can fluctuate alot) which is not much but my bodyfat is only around 7-10% so that's why people have convinced me to try in the competition, I guess I look muscular enough to them. Anyway just saying hi y'all!

First of all welcome....secondly I think its great that you are entering a competition. Of course I always push for CF awareness if the opportunity rises, but its your choice to voice about your illness especially if you win dispite the challenges! Let us know!

Welcome and good luck on your competition. So I have to ask, have you been to Hell lately? :) Just got back from Grand Cayman, great place. I'm jealous that you live there.

lifting is great for people with Cf, it has been for me,,,

I don't lift at your level, I am 5' 10'' 220 to 230 depending how I am doing.
Ofcourse I am not a bodybuilder either.
I bench a little over 300 , never tried to max out, everytime I see some try
to Max it out, they get hurt, I got enough pains , lol

Well Welcome again and Good Luck,,,, WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GEEZE! Brad you don't seem to have any weight gain issues I take it, good for you! I've hit 135 couple times but it take some serious hard work and dedication, I have to eat all the time when I'm full and I never get a chance to feel hungry, I have to stuff the food down whether I want it or not and I feel stuffed constantly, gets to me after a while. And when I get to that weight and work out that hard people look at me like I'm some kind of freak cause my body fat % have never been past 10%. Are you enzyme defficient? I am that's probly the thing that holds my weight back, but at least I aint getting a belly any time soon, I always have abs tho I dont work them much, I guess it's from coughing.
I too believe that lifting is great for CFers, for those that dont think so try racking on some weight on your sholders and squating out some reps, in a matter of seconds you'll be panting like hell from what would've took a while from cycling.
I bench like ~ 150lbs for 4-6 sets of 5-8 reps, depending on my fatigue level when I start, I've never tried for a one rep max yet either b/c my shoulders give me trouble and tend to give out and I injured them couple of times before playing hero trying to lift the gym, lol
Anyway thumbs up to you! you seem to be doing well despite what you've been thru, and it's people like you that inspire me to push hard then push some more!
Any advise you may have for me would be appreciated
