New Mickey Tube Question

Hi All,<br>
<br>
We have just started to use my daughters new Mickey tube for night
feeding and are worried that the extension tube sticks straight out
from the body. We are used to the PEG which sits at a right angle
flush'ish with the body. The tube now seems to get in the way with
sleeping and also stretches the stoma site as the tube tries to lie
flat.<br>
<br>
Have we got the correct tube? Is it supposed to come straight out
or is there a right angle option? It just doesn't look correct and
my daughter is not convinced at all, and says she wants it changed
back tomorrow!<br>
<br>
Can anyone with one comment?<br>

The straight connecting tube is really for bolus feeds and flushes. You can get right angle sets for night feeds. Don't know how you would go about getting them but I know they exist. You can see a diagram of what they look like here: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.pedsurg.ucsf.edu/conditions_gastrostomy_tube.htm

Reece has a mickey also. His pulls at the stoma as well when he is lying on the tube....I try to give him enough slack...but I find that in the middle of the night he has got tangled up again....dont really know how to prevent that.

The above site has some really good info on it....thanks as we are fairly new to this whole mickey button thing too. He jsut got his in March 06.

Thanks for this. We went back and have got various right angle
connectors for the Mickey with various connections at the other
end. Now we are back to being in a similar position for overnight
feeds as the PEG which Lambchop was OK with.<br>

We also get "wind ups" on the tube by her continuously
rolling over one way. Lambchop ends up pulling the giving set stand
and pump on top of her just as the alarm sounds, usually at 3am.
Being a heavy sleeper she doesn't even wake up, leaving me to
unwind her and reassemble the kit with eyes half open and a dead
weight to move around.<br>

Haven't solved this one yet, but am working on it!<br>
