Good Morning,

Ashley is 5 days post PEG placement. Things are going pretty good. She is not in as much pain as I expected and other than being guarded when she walks (leaning to that side) things are going very well.

My post is about the placement or positioning while at school. Especially gym/dance class. How do the kids deal with the bouncing/running around? Granted - I think our worry stems from the newness and tenderness right now and not so much the later times.

Also - We are doing 8 Ultrase MT12s at the beginning (2130) of the feed and 4 at the end (0500). Does that sound alright?
We have our fist follow up on Tuesday so I will be bugging the Docs of course. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Emily was jumping on the trampoline yesterday at a friend's house and except when a friend crashed into her and she landed hard on her belly, she did great! Even the discomfort from landing flat on her belly didn't last long. She's been running around and playing normally.

I am curious to see how she handles it at school and dance class too but so far so good. How visible the button is under her clothes is more of an issue for her than how it feels when she runs around. (She had hers placed right at the start of summer vacation.)

Before I switched a Mic-Key, I used an abdominal binder to help the PEG not be so visable under my clothes. I am not sure if they make them for kids. The Oley Foundation would be a great resource for you. Their web address is www.oley.org.

Yeah, I have seen a site that makes wide belt like things with a pouch on the inside that holds the peg or other stoma tubing so it doesn't flop out and show under the hem of shirts, etc... and the belt/band itself stay shut with velcro. I cannot remember what site it is; they sell all kinds of adaptive clothing.

New PEG tube *update with questions*

We are two weeks out and had our follow up yesterday with our CF center. Pain has decreased and she has started doing the vest in the afternoon.

Nausea? Ashley had carsickness (first time EVER) last Saturday. It was the first time we had gotten into the car that early after an all night feed. (0730 in the car, feeding until 0400.) Anyone else?

Forumla? We were on Nutren 1.5 in the hospital and came home with a case which we are out of now. Our home health provider mailed us three cases of formula... however it is Nutren 2.0 and it is Vanilla flavored. I am concerned about the flavoring, why? And also the sugar/calorie difference. Ashley had nausea with minor vomiting this morning. I am wondering if it is because of the different formula. We are out of the 1.5.

I have a call in to our Nutritionist to address these concerns but wanted some Mommy Wisdom as well.

Thanks
