Hi, I've been lurking for a while, trying to find a place online to network and meet other parents and it looks like this is a good place to start.

A quick introduction, my wife & I are the parents of 7 kids (4 boy, 3 girl). We have just reached the culmination of the process to adopt a 6yr old son with cf out of foster care. He is coming home on the 25th and I decided that what we have prepared for over the last nearly a year has come to pass and we now get to be his parents, along with the trials that come along with a son with cf that you are all living.

My wife is a stay-at-home former RN and we already have another son with medical issues (severe hemophilia B) so the amount of Drs, meds and hospital stays are just growning.

However, obviously as we move forward it will be good to have somewhere to turn to compare and learn. We don't have full medical records yet, but he has already had quite a few gi issues, including a bowel obstruction that was ignored until it cost is part of his small intestines and caused liver damage. Per his current dr his lungs are pretty good but the gi problems are the dominate issue and his current care is unfortunately what would be expected for a foster kid who doesn't have parents fighting for the best.

Thank you all for having me and I look forward to many years and friends.

Welcome! Our son had more GI issues at first -- was born with a bowel obstruction caused by meconium illeus. Takes digestive enzymes, is also on actigall. When he was a newborn his liver enzyme levels were high.

Biggy is being proactive -- do daily cpt or vest treatments to KEEP his lungs healthy.
