You can buy a pretty large amount of sterile water fairly cheap. You just need to add sea salt to it in the proper ratio and chill it I would think. Not like they do anything real super special to it. Just find out what the basic recipe is as in parts of sea salt to parts of sterile water, and then multiply that to whatever larger amount you want to make.

I've been on a 5% hypertonic saline solution twice a day for almost a month now. My Dr. wants me to get 7% next time. It's purpose is to induce coughing. It was a little irritating the first few times, but I've gotten used to it. It's better than Mucomyst! That stuff is inhumane! I tried that twice and couldn't suppress my gagging enough to get the treatment done, so I got hypertonic saline instead, and let me tell you, it was a welcomed change!
I've been on a 5% hypertonic saline solution twice a day for almost a month now. My Dr. wants me to get 7% next time. It's purpose is to induce coughing. The saline water also creates a barrier between the lung wall and the wonderful green mucus and allows the mucus to move easier. I used the 7% in June when I was in the hospital but right now my pharmacy can only get the 3%. I am doing a clinical study for a new inhaled antibiotic but once I am done that my doctor said he is going to try to get it in through the clinic. That would be awesome. I think it has helped. Since June I have only been on oral antibiotics 3 times. Normally, I am on them at least once a month.

I recieved a box of 10% from the cf pharmacy and mix it with a box of 3% i picked up after a clinic visit at the hospital. to get the 7% i just mix 3ml of the 3% to 2ml of the 10%. So far, so good!
