New VEST Machine (Model 104)

I was wondering if there are any other CF'ers who are using or know about the newer VEST Machine (Model 104). I just recently found out about it and am in the process of approval. I'm very excited about getting it since the old machine was such a chore to move, I had to switch to my Acapella (flutter). It is supposed to weigh only 17-pounds and they have a partial trade in program for the old Model 103. Just wanting to know if and when you heard about it. Thanks

Here's the link to the site

This is the model caleb has. it comes with a carry bag to put everything in. there is even some extra room inside the bag so if i go anywhere i usually put his meds and neb inside the bag too. i cant compare to the other one because we never had the 103 model. there are also 2 different style vests. ours came with the blue vest that only inflates in the front, then i called to see if i could get the one that inflates all the way around and they sent us one no problem. hope this helps.

I use the 104 vest. It is wonderful to travel with.. plus it has automatic timers so you don't have to use the foot pedal...

If it has automatic timers & no foot control that means You need to turn the unit off if you have to stop for a second in mid treatment? No big deal, but was wondering since I tend to get interupted by hubby/daughter at times.

It does have a foot control if you want to use it... also the machine itself has a pause button.. all you have to do is hit start again while it is going and it will pause...

I was wondering how much does a vest cost, I've never had one and they sound really good? I do breathing exercises for chest clearance. Thanks.

I like the 104 because it's easier to move, but the highest speed only goes up to 20. that's the only thing I found that different besides not using the foot petal.

HI,
My son started out with the other vest machine. I really like the model 104 better. It is smaller and easier to travel with. It has room to put everything in that my son needs for his breathing machine. I think you really will like it alot better.

Hey Kait has the new model also, she loves it, she can take it from room to room alot easier and when she goes to stay overnight with relatives she can easily take it along with her. It is also alot easier to travel with, not as big and bulky and not as heavy and it actually looks alot nicer. We were able to trade the old vest in for the new one with a presrciption from the docs.

My daughter is trying the MedPulse unit right now on a 30 day trial from the hospital -- the vest 104 looks to be quite a bit smaller -- the link from the first post shows a picture -- I was wondering if the machine is the size that the picture shows in relation to the size of the vest -- if so it looks like the machine something like 12"x8"x6" ???

I am not extremely impressed with the MedPulse as far as design goes -- just seems like they would have included room for the tube and vest to be packed with the machine -- it is my understanding that TheVest comes in one big bag? But then do you have to carry it? or does it have wheels on the bag?

One thing the MedPulse has going for it is that it does come with a wheeled handle thing for easy rolling.

I am also on the 104 model, it is wonderful. I love the fact that it has that foot pedal and that it is portable. I just put it in it's own bag with all of the other goodies it comes with and off to the hospital (if I get admitted) or some other destination. The one thing that is so funny is that I have it sitting on a table with wheels so when I crank that baby up, everything vibrates including the table right across the floor LOL! IF I have anything on the table, forget it...it gets vibrated right onto the floor (almost killed my computer that way...guesss I learned my lesson) Anyhow...thumbs up for that machine. OK how did you guys get your old monster machine traded in for the new one?? Because I REALLY want the 104, I hate attempting to lug the 103 anywhere, but various people at clinic have assured me it's nearly impossible to trade in the old for the new (unless the old one breaks, which given its tank-like qualities is unlikely to happen). BUT it seems from the posts that some of you HAVE traded yours in -- how did you do it??

To: Canada mom of 5 yr

I think the reason is because the vest is no more effective than manual chest therapy (provided the manual CPT is done correctly). My insurance here in the USA won't cover the vest until my daughter's lung function decreases. So basically they don't want to spend the $15,000+ dollars for something they can get for free from the parents.

We have the 104 as well and it is pretty portable. Just a bit of trivia though, if you set your cell phone on top of it and the phone is on vibrate and goes off it turns on the vest. Who knew!
