I did confirm, Texas does NOT test for CF, so you will need to get your Dr to order one.

<br />Fortunately, if you both have DF508 then the basic test will work so you won't have to fight to get the larger one.
My daughter just turned 1 on September 27th. We also found out while pregnant that we were carriers and opted to not do an amnio. The PKU was going to start testing for CF on Sept 1st of 2007 and my due date was Oct 6th so we were told that it would be fine and that CF would be caught from the standard PKU test done on every child. Just to make sure we also did the expanded metabolic screening... Unfortunately the PKU (and the expanded screening) did not catch her CF, they both came back negative. I happen to be talking to my pediatrician and wanted to know if we could get her tested to see if she was a carrier. That test came back with her having 2 genes and then we followed up with a sweat test that confirmed her having CF. It's something that they can test for in the hospital but they do not need cord blood. They can do a simple blood test and test for the cystic fibrosis genes. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there's anything that you need or any other information I can provide.
