I think you need to have your son gene tested with the most thorough test available. You can contact Ambry to see if they will handle oversea testing.

It is NOT TRUE that a baby can't be positively identified as having CF at a young age. Many around here have kids diagnosed in utero or shortly after birth.

The thing w/CF is that it would be unusual for your son to be born with lung damage. CF kids have normal lungs that feteriorate with the bacteria, mucus, and infections. Preventative care and diagnosis are key.

Hang in there!!!

I can't thank everyone enough for the support, I finally feel like somebody is listening to me. I am still waiting for authorization to have the full genetic pannel done on my son, not quite sure why it's taking so long. I got to the point today where I strted questing how sick my son is going to have to get before somebody does something. But I am not going to wait for that. Tomorrow I am going to contact the head of the Ped's department at my clinic and see if he will support a reassignment. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I realize that this is a few days after your last post. . .I too am military affiliated. My DS is seen at Portsmouth Naval which is an accredited center. His clinic has told us that there are 6 military facilities that are accredited. Trippler HI, Wilford Hall TX, Bethesda MD, San Diego CA, Bremerton WA, and Portsmouth VA. Even with EFM you can be stationed away from an accreditated center but your EFM case manger has to sign off on it as well as you must secure placement at an accredited civilian clinic.
I hope this helps and you get the support you need to ensure the proper treatment of your son.
