Nexium Side Effects

Hey guys,

I have been looking online and have read the inserts for some of my meds because I have been experiencing some things that I thought may be side effects to meds.

I was just wondering if anyone else taking Nexium experiences these things.

Acne - I am meaning an increase in acne if you had acne issues before taking meds - or just having acne if you didn't have acne before taking meds. I hadvery little acne before starting nexium, but now havea constant breakout on my forehead, cheeks and nose.

Leg Weakness - my leg muscles just feel like I am constantly working out - with just simple walking, it is not all the time but enough to be bothersome.

Blurry Vision - I wear glasses anyway - on occasion, but they do not seem to help. It is the type of blurry vision you get when you are tired ... but I am not necessarily tired when I get it. It is bothersome to the point that I have made an appointment to get my eyes checked, to make sure I don't need new glasses (though I am sure I do as it has been years since I got them checked). This blurry vision has come about in recent weeks though - it is NOT something that has lingered for months and I am just now doing something about it.

I guess I am just looking for some confirmation on this. I am pretty certain the acne is caused by the med, but the others I am not 100% about. I couldn't find anything that specifically mentioned leg/muscle weakness and blurry vision as side effects.

Thanks guy,
Lindsey

Hi,
I have Cf but I am not on Nexium...however my friend is. She has a lot of problems/side effects that she thinks are associated with the Nexium. She gets blurred vision a lot and she also gets numbness in her face and arms which is very scary for her. She has gone to the doctor and he really didn't think it was associated with nexium. He sent her home and told her to take a few tylenol?? I think he is off his rocker because tylenol isn't a solution when it comes to things like this!! Anyways thats all I know..good luck and I hope you get ur problem with nex. cleared up...haha and I doubt tylenol will do the trick.

Yeah I talked to my docs office about this today cause I had to call about a prescription refill. I figured while I had them on the phone I would mention it. The nurse took the note and called me back with a response from my doc.

As for the acne ... they think it may be a rash type thing because it itches - they recommended cortizone cream - I doubt that will help but who knows.

The leg weakness he doesn't think is due to the Nexium, but he didn't say anything that it could be due too.

The blurry vision they are putting off right now cause I am going to the doctor on Thursday to get my eyes checked ... as the blurry vision is bothering me that much.

I was told that if I was still having problems when I go to the doc in 3 weeks to bring it up and we could talk of changing my med to something else - we shall see what happens.

Thanks for the reply and I hate that for your friend. I am sure that is terrifying to have your arms and face go numb ... I would have probably stopped taking the med all together whether the doc told me to or not. I don't see how facial and arm numbness can be a good thing - maybe that is just me though.

Take Care,
Lindsey
