Bluebelle, I didn't see your response. Yes she is supposed to do sinus rinses I don't have any luck getting her to do them. What fungus does your daughter culture? Is it from her lungs?

Hi Amy,

The fungus that my daughter cultures is trichonsporon and it is colonized in her lungs. We've been dealing with it for about 5 or 6 years now. It took some trial and error to discover this fungus, but once it was discovered we were able to treat with a high does of fluconazole (Diflucan) and we had immediate results. Her lung function jumped back up to her baseline in just over a week. She too, had a good 30% drop before we isolated this fungus.

Sorry to be a pain but I noticed the atypical CF wording in your signature. Blocked sinuses and PFT's dropping seems pretty typical of CF to me.

I hope that this isn't another case of doctors giving predictions out of no where with regards to how a CFer's health will be based on genotypes.
