I don't know that the cough suppressant is a good idea or not. However, both my friend with 2 kids with CF and myself, use vicks vapor rub on their chest before naps or bed and use the new vicks vapor plug ins right next to the bed in addition to a cool mist vaporizer. The vicks really helps.
I think if the cough is so bad that you are considering getting up to do a treatment, I would be calling the CF team. For us, I would be checking his pulse ox knowing that it was probably dropping too low. I know that you can do more albuterol right before bed but you need to check with the doc about the amount and how often you can do this. Also, a pred burst is also helpful for Nathan, but again you would need to call the doc for a script.
