Does anyonek now where I can find a FREE copy/example of "articles of Incorporation" (or at the very least, what information should be included in such a document).

I also have 2 people who have volunteered to be board members. From what I understand thusfar, it's like a "director", secretary, Treasurer type of thing, we don't all have to live in the same state or anything like that. It appears I need a minimum of 5 to get this thing going, so I need two more. Anybody up for it?

What kind of non profit are you trying to start?
Are the positions still open?
Please tell me a little about the organization you are trying to start.

The goal/purpose of this organization is to help CFers apply for and appeal (if it gets to that point) their Social Security Income, or Social Security Disability cases. I am not a lawyer, and have no law degree. But I do have a lot of experience (our own case which drug over 27 months, and at least a dozen members from this site)and have yet to have someone loose a case.

Ultimately I will be doing all of the "hands on" stuff with the SSI/SSDI cases (unless of course someone else wishes to help with this), phone calls, emails and such. But in order to become a non-profit organization, I have to file articles of incorporation in WA state, and then apply for a tax-exempt status through the IRS. In order to have a corporation in WA, I have to have a "board". I'm still doing research on exactly what this entails (how many members/positions I MUST fill, how many meetings a year we need to have...)

Those who become board members will have to share their full legal name and a contact address and phone number, so that is a consideration for those who don't want to share that type of info. It will ONLY be shared with the WA secretary of state and the other board members. It will not be made public in any way.

So far I think we've got 2 positions taken, maybe 3. I don't need 100% committments now if you want to think on it or talk to spouse/significant other first.

Please let me know if there are more questions!!!

I'll do it. I know you and trust you with my information. This could be a good learning experience for me too since I am going be applying for SSDI in the near future.
