Nose + Boogers

I use that system from the pharmacy for my 5 year old. i have her do it when she is in the shower after shes been in there a while to kind of let the hot water "release" some sinus pressure. she has to hold her breathe to do it or it goes down her throat & she vomits (TMI i know but I don't know how your gag reflux is & she did this the first few times) we use the thing from the pharmacy though.

prior to having this we used the salt water mixture & I boiled the water & I had one of those things that you use to suck the snot out of babies noses & I sucked water up in that & used that as a rinse----this was not recommended by my doctor when I told him though but it worked just as well to me & it's the only thing I can think of without having to go out & by the Neil Med or the flower pot thing for the sinus rinse.

sorry if I wasn't much help

I've been using saline spray on DS for years, along with the nasty booger sucker -- bulb syringe. I bought a saline kit last weekend for myself 'cuz of sinus headaches, big klingon forehead ridge and really seems to help. Years ago my ENT just told me to snort the salt water from my cupped hands. Bleah! Burned and it felt like I was drowning. The kit I got has a tube/straw inside the bottle. Stick the end of the bottle up one side of my nose and gently squeeze, keeping my mouth open and the saline comes out the other nostril. Doesn't hurt.

Anyway, last night DS was kinda congested, so I convinced him -- bribed to let me try using it on him -- cost me five bucks! Omigosh -- the nastiness that came out of the right side where he's always had issues -- no hardened chunks but a good amount of stuff. Earlier while he was in the tub, I tried attacking him with the syringe and saline spray to no avail.
