Nose survey

I wrote about this in my blog and only got one response I'm hoping there's more out there.

The cartilage in my nose seperating the two sides is gone, it just started disappearing about a month ago! it's not the very front so you can't see it if you look in the mirror but if you stick your finger (or pinkie) in both sides you can touch them together! Does anyone else have this?

My Dr. said she rarly saw cases of it but lately (don't know if that means the last month or three months) she has had four other people report it! AND they don't know why!!!! she said the ENT said it could be extended antibiotic use or oxygen use, I want to see 1) if others have the same thing and 2)if there's any corrolation between us.

I have had a lot of antibiotic use since last aug. but this happened when I finally got off it in feb. also I've been on oxygen since aug, but kinda off and on until surgery in feb. but again, this just started in like March.

Any thoughts?

googled it and found an interesting blog about septal holes

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.plasticsurgery4u.com/pt_qna_folder/pt_qa_septal_perforation.html
">http://www.plasticsurgery4u.co...ptal_perforation.html
</a>
...seems it's a rare side effect of nasal steroids as well as common in cocaine snorters. do you use nasal steroids? this is just one more reason why when you shoot the steroid into the nasal passage you should point it towards the outside of the nose (not the septum). My doc says to use the opposite hand for each nostril ~ forces you to administer it more correctly.

Do you have any breathing complications since the hole presented?

my septum is still there...it's very deviated though from polyp scar tissue. sorry, I don't think I'm what you're looking for, lol. have you used a lot of nasonex/flonase/etc? that could do it over a long period of time.

Lauren, I haven't read your article yet, I will after I comment, just wanted to say I did know that it's very common in cocaine users that's why I'm interested in why it's happened to me! I haven't used any nasel steroids, nothing! no flonase, nasonex, nothing at all! the only thing going up my nose is oxygen! alright I'm going to read the article now.
