I noticed some of what was suggested as "Obama's Utopia" is being practiced in Japan.
However, although the "compact flourescent lights" can save you all lots of money because of its efficiency, I don't see any difference between the mercury toxins vs. the current flourescent toxins...all flourescent lamps use mercury. Its a matter of how the exhausted lamp is being disposed of.
If the U.S. got into a recycling system with lamps, batteries and major appliances...maybe there'd be less waste? (and more control over toxins?)
