Odd Pain and Bruising

Today I was seating at our desk in our office. My right foot started to itch like crazy and then began to intensely burn (the kind that happens when an IV blows). I take off my sock and notice where the pain was coming from was bruising and slightly swelling, so I hobbled to the kitchen and got an ice pack and put on it. It stopped the swelling, slowed the bruising and burning. It hurts to walk on it. It's like I blew a blood vessel, but I was sitting still. I havent done anything different than any other day. No excess walking or anything. This isnt the first time it has happened. It has happened in two of my fingers (at different times; bruising starts at the middle joint) and my foot (cant remember which; current bruising is located in the center and just below the ball of my foot) before. I can be doing anything from shopping, to sitting still. It comes on sudden with a sharp pain, itching, intense burning, swelling and bruising. You can see a blood vessel that looks large and bruised. As I said, like it has blown. I usually have to wrap it up and put ice on it to help with the pain. It can last for a few days. Anyone have this before? Or have any idea what it might be? What might be causing it? Thanks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Wow, that's nuts! The exact same thing happened to me about a year ago. All of a sudden the top of my foot started hurting and I look down and I see a blue bruise just spreading. I never went to the doctor but I'm pretty sure it was just a broken blood vessel. It eventually turned into a brown bruise and then went away but it was very freaky. It really hurt to walk on it too. Don't know what caused it (maybe vitamin K deficiency?), but it hasn't happened since. I'd be curious as well to know what is up with this!

Good luck,

Have you asked your doctor what it is? If you haven't you might want to do that because they might be able to treat and prevent it. You should really ask you doctor. Hope that doesn't happen again!
