Odd question...

Amy,

OK, so if it IS poor circulation, what would be the cause? Would my hands/fingers feel cold? I was under the impression that poor cirulation often makes fingers and toes blue AND almost always feel cold to the touch (cause blood flow isn't getting to them to warm them). My hands are rarely cold, unless I'm back in North Dakota! lol

What is the cause? If your body isn't taking in as much O2 as a normal person, your extremities tend to have a blue-ish hue.

You have CF. That's the cause.

Hey ladybug...
sakasuka is right, it's a CF thing. It goes along the same lines as to why our fingers and toes are clubbed. Oh, the joys of having CF, lol.

OK, sounds good.. I did already know that part, BUT... my question actually had to do with why MY blue is so much more prominent that my DH's blue under flouresent lights and was just a quirky little question whether other CFers fingers turn extremely MORE blue under such lights... kinda like a survery. I do understand why a CF fingernail can be more blue than a "healthy" persons, however, I also am aware that I have a cardiac condition that could make my fingernails a bit bluer AND have diabetes which could also add to it... So, I was just asking if it wasn't from the CF what else it could be (genetics, age, etc)...

Either way, the question remains whether other CFers experience extremely blue fingers in certain lighting. My fingers are NOT nearly as blue in regular lighting.

Sorry, maybe this question was too odd and confusing... sometimes I can't type what I'm thinking! lol....

If your nail color changes and your husband's nail color changes under the light, it's because the light changes the color of things.....

If you want to know why your fingernails are a different color than your husbands under any type of light, it's because you have cf.

I'm going to chance my screen name to Rocket Scientist....

You know how a paint color looks one way under regular lights but totally different (and sometimes worse) under flouresent lights? Same thing with your fingernails in this situation. Floursent lights enhance, distort, or deminish colors differently than regular lights. I was at Lowes this weekend in the paint department. We were looking at the paint cards and they had a place where you could place the cards under sunlight, regular light, and floursent light so you could see what the paint color would look like in those different lighting enviornments. Some colors there wasnt a difference, others looked like 3 totally different colors just because of the lighting.

I did this at *****'s Sporting Goods this past weekend! LOL . My whole hands(fingernails and all) were bluer/more purple than my daughter's (noticably so when I was holding her hand, )and it freaked me out a little! And my hands were warm, too . But I also naturally have paler skin than she does, and it is more translucent, too, so I am guessing that has a lot to do with it, too, in my case- they look fine in normal light .

Oh, and the clubbed fingers and toes is one that has always irked me personally , as I have slightly clubbed fingers (and just the middle and ring fingers), and clubbed toes, but I was born with them, my dad has them, his mother had them, etc.- it's just the shape of them in my family, not cf clubbing (I had no lung involvement until I was 17).

Oh my! The posts self edit out "bad words"? LOL! I guess I can't tell you which store I went to this weekend? ROFL! What do you do if that's your name? I have an Uncle *****!
