Hey all,

Hubby and i have been dicussing this for many months and had come to the conclusion that we would go through ivf to avoid another cf baby.

This has now changed and its a long story, why?
I just had the need to tell you, as i was discussing it a few months back and some of you wanted an update.

If any mums out there want to know how and why, just pm me. I would love to tell and help you in any way. (that is if you are considering the same procedure).

So now, we pray to god that when we do try for our second baby it doesn't have CF. But we are still prepared if it does, and will love and care for it just the same. If anything, it will make us stronger.

Just had to share.

Eli, what a hard decision that must have been. I hope the people here will respect your decision, and support you in what you are trying to do. I can't imagine having to make the choice you all have to do. My granddaughter--God willing will someday have to make the same choice. Your little girl is a real doll! Here's hoping for a healthy baby brother or sister!

Teri, thankyou for your responce. I figured there would be mixed feelings on this topic, but hey! what's this site for?

It was a very hard decision, and there are still some day's we think to ourselves are we doing the right thing. I guess there is no real right answer (if that makes sence).

I just want the best for my children and i want them to feel loved and cherished no matter what they have ahead of them. We will alway's be there through the tough times and the good times.

Thanks again for you support and kind words.

Edited to add:

Teri, i forgot to mention your quote

You don't choose your family, they are god's gift to you, as you are to them.

Thats part of the reason we decided to go against ivf/pgd.

I will keep you in my preyers. Abe and I have been trying to decide for the past few months whether or not to have another. We have discussed the ivf/pgd but have mixed emotions on it. We pretty much decided that God will give us what he wants us to have and we don't want to interfere with that. Just wanted to send hugs and prayers your way!!

I'm glad that you are comfortable with your decision. If you have another child with CF you would of course love him/her just as much as a child who didn't.

I have been thinking of what we will do if Brian is a carrier. We both want kids so bad and I will be crushed if is a carrier. But we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Thanks for sharing your decision with all of us! You and your husband have to do what is right for you, and if no IVF/PGD is the right decision, then so be it.

You have my prayers for a healthy non-CF baby, but jsut as froggy said, you'll love the child either way regardless. But my prayers are there for you guys!!

Keep us posted!
