Stay-at-home Mom just ignores so much. I like Domestic Engineer myself ;-)

I think the label we place on ourselves will always fall short...the pride and value we feel must be developed within our hearts each and everyday. We must at the end of the day thank ourselves for a job well done and reward ourselves with self gratitude and time alone/with friends ect. Self-care is the only way to really do anything well for others.

Personally, as a SAHM I consider myself to be the CEO and CFO of our household...as an educated former professional, I do consider SAHM to be the highest status of all jobs since it is just about the hardest job!

I think setting a schedule for you and your kids may help you avoid the TV. For example:

9am breakfast
9:30-10:30 - playtime (mom, baby & toddler)
10:30 - craft
11:00 - snack
11:30-12:30 - walk or outdoor play (you can do yardwork, read a book, etc)
12:30 - reading time
1:00 - lunch
etc etc etc

Having some sort of schedule or routine helps me not get stuck in the rut of putting my toddler in front of the tube and it makes me feel a little like the days of having a job (that requires a W2, kwim). Sometimes I just need the schedule so I know what in the world to do! I also keep a list of various activities so when my brain feels fried I can look at the list and pick something!

Hope this helps! Enjoy your year with your kids - your students will barely even miss you but your kids will benefit from this for the rest of their lives!
