As for the new car smell - I can totally buy that. Everytime I got in Kurts car and his dad's car when they first got them I would get sick. Especially his dad's car - they had just gotten it when Kurt and I started dating and I would get nauseous and at times vommited by just riding to the store in his car. The longest trip I took in that was 2.5 hours and I couldn't eat all day and had a horrendous headache after that too. It's amazing the things that can make us sick.</end quote>

maybe that's why the first thing we want to do to break in a new car is ! hehe!

It's either the smell of the plastics, vinyl, or maybe there's still vapor from any glues used for the interior of the car, but every car make has a different "new car" smell. Maybe because my dad bought a new car almost every year, I had gotten accustom to the smell.

And-can you tell em about that bowl? If it was more convenient I would pop our own but currently we are HUGE microwave popcorn eaters, we probably eat 3-6bags a week in this household .

Risa-thanks for showing me proof of what I have always known--I HATE new car smell and I get the same feeling breathing it as when I am in malls and I think it is due to all the new products in there contaminating the air and then poor circulation. At least at my local mall things seem to have gotten better with the smell in past few years so maybe they have better circulation now.

New clothes are sprayed with formaldehyde (sp?). That's why they smell weird. ALWAYS wash new clothes before you wear them. After I found about this I stopped working at clothing stores. Gross.

The guy with lung problems was on tv this morning -- he LOVED microwave popcorn that he'd make it at least twice a day, sometimes more often, JUST so he could stick his head near the bag and inhale the aroma. Just another example of using a little common sense and MODERATION.
