Hello all,

I am very interested in any information regarding this product. I had never heard of it before I read Sean's posting. It sounds like it is a god send.....has anyone else ever used it? And how has it worked for you all?

Sean, how long have you been on it now? And are you still having great results?

By the way....I'm the one that asked about the Chestmate 2000 for my sister. She is 39 with CF, and I'm trying to get her to come onto this site. It's a wonderful resource for her, and everyone seems so helpful and nice. I'm glad I finally discovered it.

Thanks again.

Yeah, ton of information in my thread about oil of oregano. I'm still on it, and still feeling pretty much symptom free. It's a natural strong antimicrobial based in extra virgin olive oil. I take it via 2-4 drops in my albuterol aerosol in the morning, 2 gelcaps first meal, and then maybe 2 drops under the tongue before bed. I am also on monolaurin, so sometimes I skip the 2 drops under my tongue. Because you have CF and the root of your disease isn't being treated (DNA mutation), your body will continue to create the problems for you. The point of taking oil of oregano is to use a substance that has been in human beings diets for thousands of years, as a natural, very strong antimicrobial internally to keep our lung and body bugs down to very low levels so we don't have to go into the hospital as much as before, or as often.

I did my own research on the stuff before I decided to start self medicating myself with it. The old way of treating my disease wasn't working anymore apparently, and I was damned to continually get worse now and die before too long, so there was no real choice for me in my decision to start taking it. I'm very glad I did, because I feel marvelous. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have just felt CF lung symptom free magically out of the blue, especially while battling horrible CF sinuses that demanded surgery and ran like a watterfall whenever I woke up.

It's up to you people if you want to try it or not. I hope what it has done for me, happens to everyone else who tries it, because I feel amazing, and have felt this way going on 2 months now. Please do your own research, and even pass it by your doctor. Don't expect much out of normal doctors though besides "Well no real evidence supports that", or "We aren't 100% sure of it's safety", or "You need to just take your antibiotics", and that other spew. The only things im on now is pulmozyme, albuterol to open up my lungs, and collistamethate in aerosol form (only reason I take it is because they said my bugs cant get resistant to it, but it wasn't working by itself before the oil), and my oil of oregano, and normal substances.

I would also like to experiment with Thyme oil, because it has a ton of Thymol in it. But from all the research I have done, oil of oregano is the safest oil to take internally that has very strong antimicrobial benefits. Thyme oil is supposedly very toxic when taken internally, especially over any period of time. So far there hasnt been any supporting research (that I have found) supporting oil of oregano for any real long periods of time like I plan to use it for. Most pro research for the oil says its been shown to be safe for useage up to say 7 months or so, but nothing has been shown pro or con past that. Then of course you have different herb sites proclaiming not to take any essential oil internally at all, and others saying they feel its fine but only for X amount of time.

I personally don't care, I know it works for me, makes me feel wonderful, and i'm contemplating going back to work full time. I haven't had a lung bleed since ive been taking the substance (which makes sense for what it's supposed to do, which is anti PA, and anti inflammatory properties). To me the only down side to taking the drug is the first initial tired sensation you might feel after taking it for a day or two, due to your system purging out the abundance of nasty microbes, and yeast/fungus/possible parasites everyone including CF patients have in their system (which for my sister and I went away after like 2 days, its a similar tired sensation you get the first couple days in the hospital while you are being nuked with antibiotics). And after that, having your breath smell like strong oregano. But if thats all I have to deal with and have my CF lungs go away, you bet your hiney in staying on it.

Im not the only one on this substance. My entire family is on it. My sister (non CF) had horrible sinus infections that 4 different antibiotics couldnt touch, and was miserable. She was on this for 4 days maybe, and now its totally gone. My fiancee had a real bad bout with either a cold or the flu, and she gets it this time every year. She is always laid up for a week, to two weeks when she gets it. After taking 2 drops of the oil under her tongue 3 times a day, by the second day of treatment she was back 100% normal.

If thyme oil wasnt as toxic as they say it is, i'd be using that also because it has strong thymol in it, oregano oil has strong carvacol in it, and it would be nice to have two antimicrobials at work.

BTW I am also taking 1500mg of monolaurin a day (500mg caps each, 3 with first meal, 3 with last night meal). I was on the oil of oregano oil first and was feeling amazing, but me feeling so amazing for so long might also have something to do with the monolaurin (which I mentioned in my original post), which is also a very strong natural antimicrobial derived from plants, and is present in breast milk too.

I wish everyone the best. Do your own research, run it by your doctor (but again, dont expect much from them in support of it, if you have a doc that does support it, hes smart), and use it if you want to. I applied simple logic + research to come to the decision to take it. If it works as good in vitro against many different microbes (including PA), and also in vivo (animals), and was shown to drop viral levels in human patient trials of those suffering from hepatitis C and other viruses, why not start self medicating myself and hope for the best? Cause I know one thing, the approach the CF docs had for me wasn't working anymore, and now im saddled with two resistant strains. Theres a good reason for me to believe that If I would have known of this substance before I was PA positive, I could have probably stayed PA free.

I can only personally apply this anecdotal evidence towards the one product I use. If you decide to choose another product, make sure their extraction process is the same, and it is identified as high mountain mediterranean oregano (oreganum vulgare).
