My Dr. does not like to wait either ( nor do i) . I am wondering if you can get a peripheral iv put in at home by a home infusion company in the mean time till Monday . That way you wont allow 3 more days for whatever is going on to get worse. In my eyes that would be your best option since you cant see the Dr. till Monday .

IF it was me I would wait, BUT you cant go by that especially with you being on oral meds.

Besides holding off on the treatment....be careful about picking up the baby or physically straining more then you need to. Save that for any coughing so if you do irritate things it will be minimal.

Good Luck!

My docs would likely have me wait. They too would go by how much it was and how I feel. I am also always told to go to the ER (gulp) if I feel worse before an appointment date.

I'm rarely seen the day I call in, even when I feel really sick. So, I can sympathize with you there. I THINK if I'd call in with your symptoms they'd tell me to wait until Monday and go to ER if I cough up more than XYZ, etc.

Its really frustrating though. I would think with CF they'd make an exception. However, most everything I've ever called in with (blood, pain, SOB, tightness, etc.) its always met with "oh that's really common for CF".... they almost always want me to "watch it" for a few days until I can get in. Again, very frustrating.

I hope you feel better!

I also wanted to mention that they have told me before to not do anything other than my bronchodialator when I'm coughing up blood. Sometimes, they won't even want me to do a PFT cause that aggravates it too. So, you may want to make sure you know what your doc wants you to do/not do while you wait for Monday to roll around.
