Can anyone help me? Are there any other sites that older CF patients can tune into? I am finding this site to be too juvenile. I am talking positive 40 plus people who are not into bickering. but are wanting support....<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

has all ages. lots of older CF people...above 35...i think the oldest member is 54...i think. sometimes there are debates but the managers are good at letting people say their opions but also (just like here) put a stop to out of hand stuff

Personally, I don't think age has that much to do with it and a lot of the time the younger posters are the ones that come out with extremely mature and informative posts. I have seen amazing posts from 15 year olds and I have seen wonderful posts by 60 year olds. I have seen silly posts by 15 year olds and immature posts by 50 year olds. The internet is, by definition, very diverse and I think the value comes from a range of opinions. That's just me, though.
You can try www.cystic-l.org but I don't think you'll have much luck getting away from debates and such. There are all kinds of people on that list but perhaps it would be more what you're looking for, I'm not sure.

I have to agree with Jarod on this one. I am a member of the Cystic Fibrosis 2 Chat....and there is bickering there as well. I am almost 32...so considered an older CFer. The other site is a good site though...there is lots of support there. I think anywhere you go though, there is going to be some arguing...it's human nature.

I have to appologize. It was wrong of me to lash out like that, and you didn't deserve it. Thinking about it last night, every sight is different, and it's okay for people to find the one that fits them best. I belong to tons of groups, and there are only two sites where I haven't seen any argueing. <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="<a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.youdontlooksick.com">www.youdontlooksick.com</a>">http://www.youdontlooksick.com">www.youdontlooksick.com</a></a> doesn't have that many CFers that post, but it is a forum for all kinds of diseases, and they are pretty supportive. If you're a christian, then there is a CF christian site on yahoo groups. Just type in groups.yahoo.com, and then I think there is a search for groups thing... I think the name of the group is called CF 4 Christians.
I'd just like to make one little point about all the arguing, though. The two sites above are very nice, and they almost always remain mature, or whatever. There's lots of love for everybody. But of all the sites I've visited, I like this one because it has honesty. Stealing someone elses quote, if you want some place where everyone has sunshine coming out their a**, then those two sites above are it. It's nice to have lots of love and support at first, but it gets old after a while. It's like when you are talking to a friend, and all they give you is general feel-good answers. After a while, you realize their words don't really mean anything. On this site, though, more people pour out their heart and soul into what they're writing. Whether they're crying, sympathising, OR arguing. Its just something to think about. People complain about the arguing on this site, but what they don't realize is sometimes you just need to let all your emotions fly out all over the place, no matter how juvenile.
One other thing, arguements don't consume every thread on this site. They don't even control a majority. I know it seems like a lot, because people respond to arguements more, but really it's probably like one out of every ten threads. There's a lot of positive things on this site, and people don't realize that because they get caught up in the arguments and are blind to everything else. That's why your post got me so mad in the first place. Anyway, forgive me for flying off the handle like that, and I hope you find someplace that suits you.

Thank you for rethinking your stance Jarrod. I was about to tear into you for that first post until I saw that you thought it over.
I have to agree with both of Jarod's posts on some level. And the thing about the arguing (or whatever you choose to call it) is that in the end, we all end up getting along and helping eachother out. I have had some major disagreements with people on this site (just as emily and Jarod). But when someone comes around really needing some assistance or advice or whatever, we all take our turns assisting eachother-even if we were just arguing the post before.
you do have to be wherever you feel most comfortable, so I would recommend checking out the sites Jarod listed. But when it comes down to it, out of all of those-this is the one I keep coming back to!

I am also a member of cystic-l. I like it but we do have our disagreements just as we do on here. On there they call them "Flame wars". But they always subside and on both sites there's always more of the good info then the bad. So stick with it we have our moments as I've had with some but for the most part we get along. We have to were kind of like family. HeeHee. You all on here know more of my CF then some of my family does. Take care.
