my son was put on a clinical trial drug treatment approach when he was 6 weeks old of zithromax for 10 days(this was because they said it makes their lungs stay healthier longer and have less infections as they got older) well it must be true so to say ,he has had no lung issues and is healthy. He is currently on tobramyacin for another 10 days to clear up the staph he grew but he will be off in 10 days....

Hi Terri,

Thankyou, it was until 3 day's later she deiced she didn't want to eat when it came to lunch and dinner. I don't know how we are going to fight this battle.

Jodie, that's what happened to another mum i know. Her daughter was taken off at 1 because that's what their clinic does and as soon as she was taken off she grew staph and has been doing so for a few months now.

Sweetwhite, that trial sonds interseting. I hope that the staph clears up soon.

Take care and thanks for your responces.

I was just wondering (parents of cfer's) what anibiotics your children are on, what dose and also for how long?

I posted my answer at the top, i'm just curious. Her docs want to keep her on permanent antis for atleast 5 yrs as a preventative treatment.

Craig, i see your son is on a similar dose. Are you aware of how long the docs want him on anties.

Again, just curious!

Thanks guy's.

My daughter is on a preventative antibiotic, been on it since she was diagnosed with CF at 6 weeks. It's called Cefradine. She takes 500 mg of it twice a day, in capsule form mixed with apple puree. She also goes onto oher back-up antibiotic every now and then if she has a cold, only with a cough though. This one's called Cefaclor, and she takes it three times a day 250 mg. She has also been on Colomycin for almost 12 months. Nebs it twice a day, mixed with saline. Also takes vitamin e, multivitamins, and 2 capsules of salt a day. Any more questions? I live in UK by the way.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
