On Home IV

Wow I didnt know so many people were on the home IV club like me. I will have been on for a week this up comming tue. Yea the couch as become stuck to my butt latley. We just got a new boxer puppy so walking around watching for her to pee has been my big fun!

Do a lot of your docs still order these?

Now I do realize that not all meds can be dispensed in the balls, but for the meds that can't I use a syringe pump instead of the bag/pole set up. Anyone else use syringe pumps?</end quote></div>

For the last 2 or 3 home iv times I have heard about the balls from my doctor. I specifically asked my case worker to look into these times & I still end up with 2 meds via pole/bag/pump & only one with the syringe. Now I dont know if the problem is that the meds arent available in the balls, if my home care company doesnt offer them or if the insurance company doesnt pay for it.

My understanding is that they are more expensive, but at some point (now that I know the official name of them) I am going to inquire myself about it. I know the meds I "normally" would use via IV & am tired of getting my hopes up to have some independence just to be tied to the pole.

The first week that I was on IV i was on the pole, but then I told my doctor that when I first had IVs I had the Eclipse balls. He had originally told me that I couldn't get them b/c of the insurance. They are more expensive so usually the insurance covers a certain amount then the patient picks up the difference. However, this week they decided to send me the Eclipse balls. I have NO idea who changed it lol . They certainly are a dream to be back on rather than the pole. I suggest anyone else interested to ask their doctor and then for the sake of it, give your home health care company a call and see their deal. I believe it was them who helped me out the most.
