Hey I just thought id share this. The other day zoey had the same nurse for three days. We couldn't stand her. She would leave zoeys bottles dirty. She says she would try to feed zoey and all she would eat was 10cc for her. Which is unlike zoey so i asked if i could try. She ate 120cc (4 ounces) for me. My poor baby was starving. Since then the nurse keeps saying she wont eat for her but she eats anywhere from 90 to 120 cc for me. I thought it might just be cuz she was used to me so my mom came up who hasnt seen her in a month and she ate just fine for her. This was the worst nurse we have ever had. I think she didnt try she said zoey kept shaking her head back and forth and i was like DUH!!!!! shes hungry. I think it was easier for her to just feed her through the feeding tube which the only reason she has that is cuz that b i t c h was to lazy to feed her. Anyways i just thought i would vent. By the way i talked to the charge nurse and they will never reassign that nurse to zoey. thanks for letting me vent......Sarah

We had to talk to the charge nurse also and tell them that we never wanted a particular LPN having Danny as her patient. She had never changed an ostomy bag--had no clue. And on 3 separate occasions gave him the wrong forumla. So frustrating!

We had a problem with a couple nurses in the NICU -- one went so far as to claim DS was developmentally delayed -- claiming he had no suck reflex. We were on the floor from 7:30 a.m. until 9-10 at night, so we made sure we were around for feedings.

The worst were the night nurses who would claim he wouldn't eat for them. Then at the local hospital where he spent two weeks, we'd have nurses forget to give him enzymes or they would wake up me at 3 a.m. to say they were too busy to feed DS and I'd later find them back at the nurses station reading romance novels. Grrrr!

We also had trouble with one particular nurse in the NICU. We also requested that she never be assigned to our baby. She was so awful.
We also had a terrible experience when our son was in the PICU at Childrens Hospital. He was on a vent and they were training someone on how to suck the vent out and then quickly hook it back up. Well she obviously did not have a clue what she was doing and it took her a little longer and the vent machine started going off. There my baby was without his chest moving up and down because he was in a medically induced coma and could not breath for himself. Well I was in there to witness the whole incident. I went CRAZY to say the least. I dared them to let another person come near my baby that was learning how to do a new procedure! So after that no more students came near us. They may have to learn but their not going to learn on my child.
So I know how you feel...I wish that they all could walk in our shoes one time....maybe then they would be more compassionate. The best nurse we had was one who had twins born early that were in the hospital for a long time. She knew exactly how we felt and her experience made her a great nurse!
Best Wishes,
Carrie
