We just started hypertonic saline. I was told to Do his vest therapy and after give the saline. We were told not to do pulmozyme in the same session. I have some people telling me this is what they do and some people telling me otherwise. What order do you all do for your children or yourself? Philip is 19 months old.

Hey Catherine, I saw your FB photo of the HTS. When/why did they start Phillip on HTS? Ellie is only on Pulmozyme...wondering if you pushed for HTS because it was another available preventative treatment? Was Phillip's doctor hesitant to prescribe it?

Unfortunately, I don't know about the order of meds...I've "heard" that HTS will decrease the efficacy of Pulmozyme (I think someone actually said "Pulmozyme doesn't play well with others"). Wish I had an answer for you!

Hi Katie! Philip has had a random cough. A couple of months ago we started Pulmozyme. It went away. Last week when everyone got sick, of course he did too. I was so blown away by the salt spa results that I shared them in depth with his doc. I was going to ask him for it, thinking we would get similar results as the halotherapy. While were talking about te salt room, he looked at me and asked if I wanted to try HyperSal...like he read my mind! So, he told me that 7% is really the lowest strength in studies that was still effective, so we are starting in the morning. He said Pulmo loses its effectiveness with saline. Anyway, I am SO excited to try it :)

Let me know how he does! I expected Ellie to cough with Pulmozyme (as her Pulm. doctor expected), but her baseline didn't change upon starting it. Did Phillip cough more initially upon starting Pulmozyme? Curious if the HTS makes his cough more productive!

I do Max's morning vest followed by Pulmozyme and then in the evening, Xopenex and then 20 minutes later do the hypertonic saline while vesting. I had never been told that they shouldn't be used during the same treatment. Geez - it'd be nice if all of the clinics were on the same page ... or even the same book!!! Originally I had him do all his nebs in the morning, but only spread it out to break it up a little bit for him.
