*Organ donation*

I also wanted to put this out there cause it is something that we were made aware of while I was in the hospital after transplant. If you DO sign your license as an organ donor GREAT! BUT BUT BUT make SURE that your family is aware of your decision and your wishes to be a donor. In the event that something happens to you they do NOT have to agree to donate your organs just because you sign your license. We thought that you were automatically a donor if you signed but that is NOT the case. Just make sure your family or the family and friends of the people that you "recruit" let their family know. It could sway them one way or the other as to whether or not they agree to donate.

The biggest thing with the license is it makes the EMTs or whoever else aware to revive you and keep you on life support until a decision can be made I think. Being that they have to keep the blood flowing for the organs to remain viable. I may be mistaken on the last part, but that is what I recall the social worker telling us at the hospital.

Take Care,
Awesome post by the way Amy.

I will also say that all of Kurt's family and his friends became organ donors and started truly talking about it once I for transplanted and they could see what an effect it had on not just me and my life, but them and theirs as well.

I just want to say that for my fellow Ontarians, if you go to the Trillium Gift of Life website, you can download and print off organ donor cards if you don't have yours.

I lost mine that I got at my friends funeral<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> So if you don't know where you can go to get one, know that you can download them on Trillium's website<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
