I am an "official" donor here in Australia, I have a little card to keep in my wallet and all. I don't know what they'd be able to take when I die, but they can take whatever they can, and the rest can go to research!

Emma-are you allowed to donate organs in Australia? They wont even let me donate blood here in the USA, I got an 'indefinate rejection letter'.

Many people get the restrictions on blood donation confused with organ donation. The only 2 illnesses that catagorically rule out organ donation are CJD and HIV. Obviously other illnesses might prevent you from giving certain organs but it certainly shouldn't create a blanket non-acceptance.

I am hugely into raising awareness about organ donation. My friend and I who set up <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www.livelifethengivelife.co.uk">Live Life Then Give Life</a> have lost 19 friends between us waiting for tx, I am one of only 4 I know who got one in time. it really is dire over here (UK).

I am on Richard and Judy, a TV show over here tonight talking about the subject, I try and raise as much awareness as poss as I feel I was really pretty lucky to be given this chance that so many don't get, so I need to use it wisely....
