Organizing a Wrap Around Event

I was told this was a good place to post this question...

I am new to planning wrap around events for CF fundraising. I am planning a CF walk in my community. This is my first time (hopefully not my last) planning such an activity.

If anyone who has experience planning such an event and has any advice I would appreciate it.

I want to keep things fairly simple (I imagine that is easier said than done). We have set our fundraising goals and sent out our first fundraising letter to family and friends.

I have about 2 months to organize our fundrasier.

Congrats to you for doing this. A good friend and I planned a CF walk in my area last year. We are working on this year's walk which will be in September. I think the best plan is trying to find team leaders for walk teams. Last year we had really on two teams. Mine and another family with a child with CF that found me just weeks before the walk. By having team leaders to create their own teams and raise money it helps take the strain off of you so you can devote time to planning the event. If you don't have a date and location set, that needs to be done right away. That way you can get community calendars updated and posters printed. Our local CF chapter handled all the printings for us. We went to local businesses to get sponsors. Many large companies and some small have programs to match funds raised, be sure to check into that. You can also ask them to have a company walk team. We had a silent auction of items donated by local businesses. We also sold raffle tickets before and at the event and did the drawing at the walk. I wish you luck and hope you enjoy doing it.
