OT - Germy Vacuum Cleaners

We have very light colored carpets and have had a rule that shoes get left at the door. Mostly it was because of the light color of the carpet (off-white), but reading this I'm thrilled about the other benefits! Even my daughter's friends are all trained. I can count kids in the house by looking for pairs of shoes at the front door. My housekeeper brings in her own vacuum... I wonder where it's been? Maybe I should ask her to just use the one we have in our house. ~Juliet

Oh ewww...I hate these things that tell us how dirty stuff really is, lol . At least we have the throw away bags...I think I will start spraying the vacuum with Lysol instead of fabreeze (and include the roller brush)...

If anyone wants to invest a large chunk of dough even in this economy, consider buying this vacuum: miele callisto. I LOVE IT. I cut into other areas of the budget to pay for it.

You can watch Youtube videos about it, and how very few vacs with HEPA filters actually have an airtight canister, and therefore are spewing dust back into the house.

If you have carpets/rugs. you can't really get one of the less expensive models. This is the one with the electric brush, HEPA filter and parquet floor attachment.

Man, let me tell you about the parquet/hardwood floor attachment. It is spectacular with a flexible neck and wide head, and boar's hair bristles.

Oh oh oh, just thinking about my vacuum makes me so excited...

I have been OCD with germs every since I took Microbiology in school..

In my house.. NO ONE wears shoes, ever.. I actually have a sign on my door that requests that shoes come off and that you wash your hands upon entry...

If I have a worker that has to come in the house and it is against the companies policy to take shoes off. I have plastic booties at the door that they have to put on. I will allow food in the living room but by adults only and I vaccuum with a hepa filter vaccuum three times a week, including all furniture.

My vaccumm cleaner has a plastic canisteer and I wash it out once a week.

wearing shoes in the house is so bad for our lungs... I hate carpet for the germ factor to begin with..

The only reason I don't have a dog is because I can't tolerate the paws on the carpet being dragged in and out of the house....

Also, this is the first year I am doing it, but I am going to be wearing a mask anytime I feel like I am going to exposed ...like in Target last night///

Also I have wipes and I wipe down all shopping carts before my hands touch them....

I know we need some germs to help our immune systems grow but since I am on steroids, I have such a weak immune system I do everything to stay away from them now

also with everyone turning on the heat.. Make sure all vents have been washed and cleaned and then dried so no mold can get in.. also check windows around the house for wet spots where mold can grow... and make sure your kitchen sinks are disinfected they are more germy then you bathroom sinks...

I think I have PMS..sorry for the rant
