I also use the Robitussin...usually the one that has cf on it (but is does NOT stand for cystic fibrosis, I forget what it means). I dont usually have time for the whole ginger tea thing since my coughing fits are usually at night when I just wanna sleep. The other thing I have tried (ONLY IF YOU ARE OVER 21...LOL) is tea with rum in it. I had to do this before at college when I had an apartment with room mates. I boiled the water and put a shot of raspberry rum in it, just to see how it worked and it was beautiful and tasty too!!! haha.

I do believe there is a time & a place for it even tho frequent use isnt a good idea. Rest is so important.

THAT being said.....the only cough med I ever used was prescription. It had codeine in it to keep me from coughing & aggravating my hemoptysis. It knocked me out cold LOL!

Sorry cant help with the OTC ones....

I use regular robitussin cough suppressant. I know they say "no!", but sometimes sleep is more important than clearance.

I've always wondered why they don't tell us to use expectorants.</end quote></div>

I was always told because it drys us so we cant move out the secretions as good as we should, but im too the point where I dont care!!

Actually the best cough medicine that really works well happens to be a natural one: Ginger Tea. You grate 1/2 inch of freshly grated ginger root to one cup of water, boil, then steep for ten minutes. You can use a tea ball or after it boils just use a strainer. Add honey for taste. I make it in a large glass measuring cup in the microwave and drink it all day.

If you are having hemoptysis, you shouldn't take this. Instead take Japanese Green Tea with some honey.

My doctor says that Ginger Tea is better than any cough medicine on the market. It's also a natural antiflamatory and has antibacterial properties.</end quote></div>

thank you! I am def. going to save this idea.
