My son, has been very sick lately coughing and weezing etc. We have had him on the breathing treatment to no avail. The Dr. is sending him to a lung specialist. My mom told me I had a cousin die of CF and that she wanted me to look it up. My son doesn't eat very well, underweight, now he has dark circles under his eyes. After looking it up, he has always had bowl movement problems, he has moments where he's fine but of my three children he has diareaha alot. He complains of being very tired lately, NOT SO when you have a child who is manic ADHD. He comes home from school and just lays on the couch. Anyway I had some questions. Did any of the parents of children with CF notice that your child drewled alot, or just seemed to have lots of saliva? He is small for his age, and has been behind all the other kids with mostly everything. I am just wanting some more advice, and from people who have been there. Thank you!

I hate to say this, but the symptoms you describe could very well be CF. Get him tested ASAP at an Accredited CF Center. Implementing proper meds & care ASAP is important.

If you have any more ??, please ask!

I agree with Jazzysmom.
I think most of us were fortunate enough to have our little ones tested early on so may not have some of the experiences you are having, at least mine was diagnosed at 3 weeks of age.
With that said, a lot of the things you are describing can be symptoms of the disease. Even with mine on proper meds and treatments he often comes home completely and totally exhausted from a day of school, even runs fevers if he is tired enough with no explanantions.
How old is your child? Having 3 kids is often enough for a mom to know what is and what isn't normal behavior.
You can go online to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to find the closes accredited CF center for more information and help. www.cff.org

correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but no.. I don't think extra saliva and/or drooling is usually associated with CF. But the other things you describe... lung issues, diarrhea, being tired, underweight and smaller than others his age certainly are classic signs of CF.

As for the dark circles and being "behind" those could be a result of other things such as milk allergies - dark circles (come to think of it that could also account for the GI problems as well) As for being "behind" I'm assuming you are referring to developmentally.... probably goes more hand in hand with the ADHD spectrum than the CF. Just a real off the cuff sort of analysis of course. It isn't uncommon to have more than just the CF going on... many people have multiple diagnosis's.... my son has CF and is also a high functioning autistic with developmental delay.

Welcome to the site, please keep us posted as to what is happening.
