Other than CF - causes of PI

Our daughter's stomach issues started getting worse the past couple of weeks. She has been crying due to the pain and discomfort. Her gas was worse and her stools have been large (floating as usual). I finally called the GI and requested something to help. They prescribed Creon and her tummy did not hurt last night.
We will have the Ambry test at the end of March so we are just in a holding pattern until we get the test results. Thanks again for your replies.

We went yesterday for the blood draw for the Ambry CF gene test. The wait begins...

Our daughter is doing fantastic on Creon. She is taking Creon 12000 - three times a day. She is doing so well on it, that I asked her GI doctor if we could stop periactin and he agreed (yeah for one less medication). The only side effects we have seen is some acid reflux/indigestion which is easily managed with a children's Tums and bad breath. It is so nice to have her feeling better. Her great little personality had started to change since she was in constant pain from her stomach aches. Thanks again for all the replies!

That is great news! We found the same thing with Owen, he felt better, his poop was normal , and he could eat some of the foods that were previously off limits! Just to clarify, you give her the Creon when she eats, not just three times a day, right? We do 2 with meals and 1 with snacks so we total about 10-14 a day. He gained weight beautifully too. Our CF clinic said he isn't on a high enough dose to call it CF related PI but we are thrilled nonetheless with the help it provides.
Good luck and I hope the improvement continues.

i know it is not the topic and i am really glad to hear that your son is doing well with Creon, but i fund quite suspicious that a CF clinic would say that the dose is not high enough to be CF related. I mean many patents don't even use any enzymes b/c they are PS and still have CF!
