We are planning to visit NYC in late June and travel around the east coast for about 20 days.
We have 2 children Hannah 14 and Ben 11 w/cf . We live in Melbourne, Australia. I Can't believe the price of the accommodation in NYC and would like to know if anyone knows of any alternatives to staying in Manhatten. My wife and I started a research trust 9 years ago which raises in excess of $150,000 annually, anyone interested can view our website which
I look after. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://ww.rccfrt.org

I was just in NYC. We stayed at the Pod Hotel. I'm not quite sure which accommodation of theirs would work for a family but we paid $99 a night during weeknights and just slightly more on the weekend. It is just a couple of blocks from Time Square, close to the UN area (making it feel very safe), a block or two from a subway stop, and a couple of blocks north of Penn Station. I would not hesitate to go back. It was incredibly clean. The rooms are small but if you aren't hanging out in the room for most of the day you should be fine. The service was nice. I looked out in the suburbs of NYC and still couldn't beat this price. Tripadvisor.com might have more recommendations. Budget Travel, WashingtonPost and USA today have all recently done budget hotels for Manhattan lately so you might try searching that way.
