Our scan

Hi,

just thought I'd post our latest scan pic - this is 18 weeks + 2 (a week ago). Here in Ireland they tend not to tell you the sex unless you specifically ask (as many people prefer not to know) and we were so concerned with the measurements that we forgot to ask until the scan was over! We don't mind too much though, and we may find out further down the line. We seem to think it's a boy and so far only boys names are springing to mind but not sure I trust my intuition on this one!

Yea! Good lookin' baby!

That's how we were too...couldn't think of a girl's name, so good thing it's a boy! Hopefully you can have another u/s before the end of the pregnancy so that you can find out the sex. I think it's great to be able to know the sex ahead of time because it helps with the planning of everything. Just my opinion.

Well, hope you're preganncy is going well and that you're feeling good. Did they tell you how big the baby was?

Hi Leah,

I'm doing fine thanks - having a bit of trouble sleeping but I think that's partly cos my head is so full!
Come to think of it I can't remember that we got an overall weight but she measured the head, abdomen, femur etc to see if they were within the range of our dates - they all were. And she showed us the blood flow within the heart which was wild to see all 4 chambers and the blood pumping away. My husband was laughing that the femur seemed pretty long, running a couple of days ahead of the other measurements - he's 6 foot 5 and I'm just 5 foot 1 so maybe the baby takes more after his/her father!

I'm jealous that you're definitely feeling movement now, I think I may have felt the odd flutter but then I have a pretty growly stomach so hard to say. Lots of my friends who have babies seemed not to feel definite movement till 21/22 weeks though so I'm doing my best not be paranoid. Baby was moving plenty at scan, flexing knee joints and putting hand on his/her head.

Talk soon,

Elizab x

Yeah, don't worry about the movement. What I'm feeling now is very difficult to feel unless I'm paying attention. A lot of first-time moms don't feel it until closer to 20+ weeks anyways. Take care.
