I'm trying to hold off on antibiotics since this cough isn't really all that bad and I like to save the abx for when she really needs them. If she is still coughing at the end of the week or if it continues to increase instead of decrease I'll call the center.</end quote></div>

Just keep in mind - every minute she has white blood cells going after the active infection (even though the cough isn't "all that bad"), those white blood cells are causing permanent lung damage.

saving antibiotics is good, but aggressive treatment to preserve lung function is also important to consider. you don't want to think a few years from now "wow, if only I had been more aggressive with treatment."

I love hearing how responsive Hill-Rom is with their customer service and in getting out replacement parts! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> That is so good to know in the event that Emily has trouble with hers. On average, how long do the hoses seem to last before developing cracks?

I hope Alyssa responds quickly to the Augmentin & is feeling better soon!

We've had our machine for 2 years and have had four sets of tubes, so I'd say about 6 months.

I'd agree on the 6 month lifetime for a set of tubes. Maybe a little less. Hill Rom has been great about replacing them for us, too. They also sent us a vest when Emily threw up on hers and I couldn't get the smell out. That time they even sent an extra, "just in case."

Here's hoping Alyssa responds quickly to the anti and is feeling better soon. Isn't it kind of alarming when they sleep that long? A sure sign something isn't quite right.
