Any ideas on getting Cipro into my 18 month old son. We've tried liquid, pill and every food we can think of to mask the taste but he gags and spits it out every time. Any ideas appreciated.
thanks

Hey we're crazy canuckers too!! I may not be much help, but my daughter is on Cipro right now too. 9 more doses... yes we are counting down. We are using the liquid. We keep it in the fridge... one of the pharmasists said it would taste better cold. She does take it readily but I always give her a chocolate milk chaser. Have you tried a banana before?? or maybe something salty?? it may change the taste enough to get it down... hope you don't have too many doses left!

My son HATED that Med...........My son reluctanlty ate it.............It did involve a prize from the dollar store daily! You need to provide a prize within your means for his daily consumtion............Sometimes he could not have a tickle-session until he did it........Good-Luck

My 3 year old daughter has been on Cipro a few times - gave it her in a syringe and she took it fine. I really don't know what to suggest as we were lucky with this one! She just must have liked the taste - thank God! I remember it being quite 'grainy'. As you have tried liquid and food to disguise it I really can't think of anything else. Have you tried putting it in a syringe, so he takes the medicine quicker, or even mixing it with something like apple puree before putting it into a syringe? I really feel for you!

Another suggestion is asking if Cipro comes in capsule form. My daughter takes her antibiotics in capsule form now mixed with apple puree, loads better and we don't have to mix them and keep them in fridge. I really can't think of anything else...
