I have noticed this for many years. It took me realizing that I was just starting, just finishing or on my period when I was in the hospital very often. I thought it was weird and it sucked because ya know laying in a bed while on your period and not feeling good on top of it is no fun. So to answer you question YES I start feeling worse around ovulation through period time. I get my normal exacerbation signs (coughing more, coughing up more, more tired, more irritable, etc) I have told my doc this many many times. I tried the DEPO shot since it is just progesteron and no estrogen. I couldn't handle the side effects of the shot (irritable, cranky, weight gain, made my depression worse, had a worse period in between shots, granted I wasn't on time with my second shot because I was debating on taking it or not.) I only took it for 2 shots (1 shot every 3 months). I going to talk with my OBGYN about possibly trying a low dose BC pill and see what that does. I have also talked about a hysterecomy, obvioulsy not the ideal thing to do but if it would give me more time between exacerbations I would do it. All of it is up in air.
Funny that this topic is here today, I am a part of a group on FB of female CFers and we recently talked about this along with many other things us ladies have to deal with.
