Oxygen systems

the company is A-plus medical....use to be Comprecare. I think they are just a small local company. I interviewed 3 of them when deciding.....I didn't just take the company my doctor originally called. Another thing I had to do is figure out the system that was best for me. They didn't OFFER that information.

I had to ask a lot of questions about what would work for me. They originally just dumped off a concentrator with about 6 portable tanks, ughh! I did research and found a fill system. I also insisted on a tank that fit my activity level....though I don't use it now cuz I was able to get my lungs back in shape enough to exeercise without it. I asked for a smaller tank so I could play tennis or jog if I wanted to. Their reply was that they provide the bigger tanks so that people can get out for longer periods of time and that that was a company decision. My reply: "tell your manager that I will not have some company deciding how long or how short my excersions will be and that I want a small tank that fits my lifestyle or I will take my business elsewhere". I got a tiny cute little tank the next day. I had to be assertive for my needs! WE have to do that for ourselves.

I use equipment/02 from Lincare, Inc because they are all over the US and when I travel they can set up for my 02 at vacation locations and I am billed through my local Co. thus no out of network co-pays. They also provide me with an Inogen One for plane travel....just for your info the cost is $75.00 a week and Blue Cross will NOT cover the rent for these...I guess BC feels 02 users should not travel!!! So I pay for it out of pocket but it is worth the freedom. I have tried other Co's but it was a hassle to arrange for 02 at vacation destination-if you are flying-and not all airlines have 02 services on them. Hope this helps.

I use a DeVilbiss "Compact" (it's not really that compact and it weighs 12kg )O2 concentrator, which can pump up to 5 liters/per hour and can accommodate up to a 50-foot cannula (15.3 meters), so at least you don't have to move the machine that much.
It's a bit noisy, but you get used to it and now I can do my O2 while I sleep, without the ear-plugs. And I only have to do around 12-16 hours a day, because going away it's not feasible with this.
On the good side, it's very easy to use and reliable, I had no problems at all with it since I got it in 2007.
I don't own the machine, I pay "rent" fot it (it would be to expensive to buy it and not knowing how long it would be needed...), to the company providing this service, but the health system here only covers 40% of the cost, the rest comes from my (parents') pocket.
