P. fluorescens

I requested my records from this last year and discovered on one sputum culture the lab saw "many" P. fluorescens.

I have done a google search on it but haven't run across much as it specifically relates to cf.

I guess I can add this now to my list of psuedomonas that I culture - aeriginosa non-mucoidal, aeriginosa mucoidal and now.... fluorescens.

Or was it just because I had yogurt remnents in my mouth as I read it is used in the product of yogurt ? ! ? !

Any info is appreciated.

Did it show up in your latest culture or a prior one? It would probably be best to just ask your doctor or cf nurse what it means to culture "many" P. fluorescens. It probably isn't anything significant at all since it was not brought to your attention but like you I would want to know too. Let us know what you find out.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi Lauren,
I have cultured it and was told it was P. fluorescens-putida complex and unusual but becoming more common in cf cultures. It is found commonly in soils and I work with dirt and tree roots so I suspect that is where I got it.
