I am 17 years old and on week 3 of p90x and my lungs can handle everything but still having some trouble with plyometrics. Overall I love the workouts but i usually do a treatment before to reduce coughing during the workout. How do you like p90x? do you feel your lungs can handle most of the workout?

Sorry Tessa, I missed your message. If you click the link in my message above, you can read more about the results that a trainer with CF (who is a retired pathologist) has had with P90X. Those are her results and she is serious that they raised her PFT''s that much.

I need to raise mine too, but I have a little work to do before I can do P90X.

I've done P90x. I gained about 11 lbs in one month. It's great for the bulking!

I'd ride 30 or so miles twice a week on my bike (pedicab, dont' know if you've heard of this), so I would do plyometrics, but not the cardio.

I'd HIGHLY recommend doing plyometrics. It's fantastic. My PFTs went up about 2 or so percent. Not much, but again, it keeps you in shape, and helps out your lungs, too.

I'm going to start the routine over today. I never finished it the first time, only made it through the first month. If anyone wants to keep in contact with me, share results, etc. that'd be great!

I've quit pedicabbing for now, so I'm going to start the routine over

I think the simplest and best way to increase your PFT's is jogging & running... Also if you are feeling energetic add some repeat hills to get the heart pumping.

I'm on Week 3 here...so far it's been kicking my butt and I'm pretty sore all around most days, but it feels great at the same time! My appetite has increased from Day 1, and although it's settled down a little I'm shooting for an extra 10 pounds in the next couple months.

As mentioned before in the thread, the Plyometrics are intense and probably the best individual workout for increasing PFT's, but the others are a great change of pace and are really working my other areas. Yoga in particular is unique in it's own way. I've found that I (naturally) often cough up a ton of junk right after the Bridge and Shoulder Stand poses. I wonder if anyone has ever tried giving themselves PD treatments while in an inverted pose, seems like it would be very effective <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
