EEK! I went to that hypermobility test, and I score 9/9. I always used to show off the thumb trick to my friends and freak them out. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
I started reading more on that site (and about EDS more) and it sounds like me, but I don't know for sure. (reading symptoms is one thing, and actually seeing what a person that has it is like is another!)
How were you diagnosed? None of my doctors have ever mentioned this - not even the rheumatologist. He didn't try to do the finger or arm bendy things either, so he wouldn't have even known I'm hypermobile.
"Joint hypermobility is the dominant clinical manifestation. Generalized joint hypermobility that affects large (elbows, knees)and small (fingers and toes) joints is evident in the Hypermobility Type. Recurring joint subluxations and dislocations are common occurrences. Certain joints, such as the shoulder, patella, and temporomandibular joint dislocate frequently. The skin involvement (hyperextensibility and/or smooth velvety skin) as well as bruising tendencies in the Hypermobility Type are present but variable in severity.
Chronic joint and limb pain is a common complaint amongst individuals with the Hypermobility Type. Skeletal X-rays are normal. Musculoskeletal pain is early onset, chronic and may be debilitating. The anatomical distribution is wide and tender points can sometimes be elicited."
The thing is, I have only ever dislocated one joint, ever. (my elbow) My main problem now is my hips and they don't actually dislocate, they just have a dull aching pain that I would rank at like an 8 out of 10. In addition to that, I sometimes get this sharp sharp spike of pain when I'm walking, and I stumble a little... is that the joint slipping a bit, maybe?
I do bruise easily, but I always figured that was a vitamin deficiency or my cfrd. I can snap my jaw out of place at will, which I was reading about is pretty common in EDS. Hmm I dunno what else to add, I really don't know anything about this. Some site also mentioned weird 'lesions over bony protuberances' and I have these weird scars over my ankles that my doc couldn't explain either. I nearly cried when I read it all, finally MAYBE having a name to put on this after so long.
Do you think this could be it?
(you can PM me if you like, instead, I just wanted to see if anyone else had more comments)
