Pain on the lung

Hello,

I woke up yesterday with a strong pain that went from my shoulder all the way down to the bottom of my left lung.
I have cf and my condition is mild. I lead a normal life and never needed admission in the hospital.
Nevertheless i am obviously considering that this could be a collapsed lung.
The pain on the shoulder has subsided but the one on the lung persists. Even though i was able to still go to work yesterday all day and then went out at night, it does hurt when i do anything that involves taking deep breaths and also when i move my body to the sides.

I know i should take an X-Ray, I know i should go to the hospital and have it checked out, but first i'd like to know your opinions, what this could be etc.

They will be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Hello I have been having this similar problem. I have been feeling 'off' and with the pain for a few weeks. since I just finished antibiotics the docs did not feel I could be sick, they did xray and very thorough exam 2 weeks in a row and could not find anything to cause the pain.

The pain along with my fatigue and a slight dip in my numbers so we started treatment with antibiotics, new ones, and guess what the pain is gone? Sometimes you just know your body.

I also have 'mild' CF if you want to call it that with PFT's around 100% but you still have to treat it aggressively or you wont have good numbers for long. Please take your bodies warning and go check in at the clinci to see how things are going.

Thanks for the feedback.
Glad your pain is gone.
I think i've concluded it's not a collapsed lung (which was the worst case cenario for me) but it could be an inflamation of the pleura, same as with you, maybe. I spoke to a friend of mine today who also has CF and she said that most times when she gets these pains, they're due to that.
I won't go on antibiotics for now, i'll wait a couple more days and i think it will go away, we'll see !
In my country we avoid antibiotics (except for the ones we nebulize), unless we've got infections. It seems to work out well so far, i rarely take them and when i really need them in the future, i will be more resistant to them.
Anyway, just different ways of seeing it, it varies a lot from country to country!

Speak soon stay well!!
