Pain relief

Hi,

I know I am a bit ahead of myself here, but just wondering if anyone used the gas as pain relief in labour? Does it irritate our lungs?

I'm asking b/c my biggest concern with labour is having trouble with breathing/asthma. I don't use HTS b/c I get too inflamed by it, so not sure what effect gas might have.

I have never heard of anyone using gas as a pain relief. This was not anything that was ever mentioned by my ob either. Could it be that in the US maybe we dont use that?

I have never heard of using that during labor-I'd think the risk of it irritating lungs during labor-with or without Cf-wouldn't be something a doctor would want to take. Not to mention they make you loopy and can knock you out. I'd think epidural would be the preferred pain management.
