paying for the vest

Have any of you had to pay your deductible for the vest? I am asking because I met with one of the reps in our town and was told that even though they "have to send us a bill", we "do not have to pay for it if we cannot afford it". Is this true? I find it hard to believe that they won't send us to collections, but then again, I have to wonder why it still costs so much when it has been around for quite awhile! Usually, when a product has been around for awhile the price goes down, but this has not.
Any feedback is welcome...thanks! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

I got the vest about 7 years ago. I've used it about 50 times. They hounded me for a while, wanting to know my mileage, etc...After I quit responding to them, they left me alone. No collection agencies have contacted me and I now have a vest that sits in my closet. I'm not a big fan of it. I have other, better methods.

i got the vest 4 years ago when i was on medicaid and didn't have to pay anything. Although they would hound me all the time w/ mileage making sure i was using it i guess-maybe it was on lease or something and they were looking for a way to take it back. But i hardly used the thing, but when it came mileage check time we were afraid of someone coming to take it and saying "oh not enough hours on it, you dont need it". So we would crank the thing on and dry run it to keep miles on it.
Eventually they came and got the 100 lb machine and replaced it w/ the newer version and i havn't been hounded since.
You know i think they charge the insure like17000$ for it. And i would sell it, but i could never get that for it, so ill just keep onto it for when i finally need the thing. im sure it has been a godsend for some people, but not me........yet
but g luck getting the thing <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

The Vest Company is a very approachable company.

If you cannot pay the deductible, or have problems affording it, you can talk to them and see if a payment plan can be arranged, or they will just absorb the cost themself.

I have a vest and when I was being billed about 150.00 a month, I explained all my other medical expenses and my inability to pay the 150.00 a month, but needed the vest to keep me healthy and from getting infections. They sent me a form, I filled it out.. and I no longer have to pay the deductibles.

Thanks everyone! I hope I didn't come across as though I wanted the easy eay out! It is hard for us to come up with the extra $280 - $400 per month for the vest....we can probably come up with a few extra dollars each month, but that too varies. I just want what is best for her and don't want to compromise her health!

I take it that this is for a child of yours? If so, is this person on medicaid or any type of state or government coverage? Most state/government funded companies will pay for this.

I am glad to know I'm not the only one that they hounded regarding the mileage. That was so discouraging - I was so paranoid about it too. I'd leave it on to let the hours build up. LOL

My insurance eventually paid part of it or all of it, I don't remember, and then they left me alone.

1/3 of our income goes towards medical expenses. We didn't believe them either about them not trying to collect our deductible ($1,500), and we finally told them okay, deliver it, but if they did want the $, they could come get it (just too good to be true). Actually, this may be the one thing that was too good and it was true. They negotiated with the insurance, and after we filled out the form saying it was a hardship, that was it! Note to everyone: please use your vest - you'll never regret it.
