What kind of virus could this be? And why would it not be covered by the insurance? He says 'because of my pre-existing condition' he is unable to get coverage from his insurance but that seems very unlogical to me. BECAUSE the operation is CF related, it should give him every reason to get coverage.

I personally do not think this site is a scam. You can tell the guy has CF by the way he is breathing and by his voice. He looks like he was in very good health at one time but now he is having difficulty talking by the way he is breathing. He talks about surgery. Perhaps a transplant? He needs to be more specific when he expresses himself. I believe he has a lot to offer young children who want to work out and eat healthy. If someone wants to donate money to him, that would be nice. If he did not need money he would not be asking for it.

Give the guy a break. He has CF and wants to help others from what he has learned. He sounds very genuine to me.

I wish him well and hope that he can get his needed surgery so he can go on and accomplish his dreams.

When it comes to all those supplements, I feel it might be overkill. The body can only process so much. I say it is better to eat healhier and take your supplements but not over load your kidneys and liver with all the protein powders. Perhaps three or four times per week but not going into overdrive by each and every single day. Working out is a wonderful thing. I have known many folks with CF who look fantastic when they workout.

Nothing seems "odd" just from the clip. If you are unsure he leaves an email option to contact him. We dont have a lot of details nor can you go by looks.

I believe he has CF. He had requested to be my friend on myspace and I approved him, and sent him a message asking him some questions. He has not responded yet, but it looks from a blog message he went into the hosp on Dec 16th in Okland and has not logged in since Dec 21st, I hope all is going well. He says he needs a transplant and can not get insurance because of preexisting condition, but I simply asked him why he could not get SSI. If he is in california isn't all CF expenses covered. I realize with a transplant there are more expenses than any coverage can pay, so I can see him asking for help. I'm sure this is not easy for him, as he even states it is and he is just asking for even one dollar, but at that rate I wonder if he will ever get the help he needs, maybe that's just be being negative. I wish him well. I even told him to get married to have coverage. I would do it for someone if they needed insurance.

Here's one for u though, www.savebigdave.com.
In his site it say "You can help by taking action to fight state issued and nation wide budget cuts to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation assistance programs. In recent years, states such as Minnesota, Arizona, and Virginia have completely eliminated their adult CF programs. CLICK HERE to find out more information., (which is not a valid link.)

What? eliminate adult programs, come on.

In his myspace site, http://www.myspace.com/bigdaverecords
He gives no real facts about CF. He refers people to the old Alex CF book and he has a blog about all of these natual substances, cut, copied and pasted. Guess he's taking a lot of them, the biggest CF person I've ever seen.

That could easily be faked, although in this case it probably was not (I'm sure NOBODY here has ever written an excuse note from their parents to their school. )

Has he filed for 501(c)3 http://www.ezec.gov/Toolbox/501c3factsheet.html ?

There should be a tax-id number that you are given so you can deduct your contributions on your taxes (USA), in which case, your organization should be listed here: http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78

IMHO

Edit - 1/5/2007 : Later down in this post you will find some unique analysis on why this person is mis-representing his financial needs (and some rather harsh written language.) If you are so inclined to financially donate, please donate to a known cause and a well established charitable organization which will benefit all of us with CF.

Thanks. (Or you can send cash and checks to me. PM me and I will send you a mailing address.)

By the way Mike , why don't YOU do something and contact the attorney general's office and ask them to review this cause. It is mail/wire fraud, a federal offense if he hasn't gotten the appropriate licensing (but only in america. I suppose.) He could get his surgery on our dime while serving his time in federal prison!

p.s. I do agree with Mike that you should not believe most things you read on the internet and certainly do not fall prey to scams which take your hard earned money without properly investigating the 'charity'.
