Unless you have actual allergies that would cause a problem I say stick the animals. I have ALWAYS had some type of animal. I am sure that the hair/dander aggrivates my lungs a bit, but the emotional/mental pick me up that I get from my animals is much worth it. We currently have 1 dog, 1 cat & 2 parakeets. If we ever get our yard fenced in properly, we will have another dog. My animals are treated almost as good as my daughter is!

We have 2 dogs and 2 cats (and both of us are allergic to Cats, no relation to the CF) and we get along just fine. The first 4-6 months with the cats were miserable for both of us because our eyes were itchy and watering and we were sneezing all the time but it went away when we got use to them.

Unless you have sever allergies, you should have no problem

Also, this was discussed in depth about 4 or 5 times in the recent months. If you want to see some other things that were posted regarding pets, you can use the search option on the top Right of the forums and put "pet or pets" into the topic and you will get all pet related topics.

Good luck with your kitten, animals are a joy!!!

I have 3 cats, and love them to death. I plan on getting a dog as well when I get a house. I say, so long as you don't have an allergy to pets, then go for it. The only problem I have with my cats, is that one of them likes to sleep on my pillow with me, and I'm always waking up to cat in my face. If anything, you could have a room that is pet free - i.e. you don't allow your cat in there.

We have a beagle, a jackshit (lol, a jack russel cross shitzu) and two cats. The boys both had allergy tests last year and they are not allergic to them.

We have two cats and love them!

What about fish? I often wonder about bacteria in the water. My boys each have one in their rooms. I clean the tanks, but they feed the fish.

I couldn't live without my boxers-especially Scarlett my 2 yr old boxer-(hence my screen name!)
They are truly the best medicine-they always bring a smile to my face-lick my chin when I cry-they can always tell when I'm really not feeling well or in pain. Sometimes I look at their faces at get teary eyed! They're adorable.

We have an elderly, diabetic basset hound. When DS was born & diagnosed shortly afterwards wcf, we were worried that we might have to get rid of the dog. DS just LOVES his puppy. The other night he dumped his carnation instant breakfast in the dogs water dish and was soooo proud that he fed his puppy milk.

Our dog is almost 13 years old --- is blind from cataracts, requires insulin twice a day, sleeps a lot, but otherwise gets along great.

As many others have stated if you don't have allergies then by all means have as many pets as you can afford ...... I have a boxer and grew up with animals all my life. Long haired pets bothered me a bit but other than that I enjoyed my pets as the friends they are.

Trina and ANON, what are your boxers like? Fawn or brindle?

Aren't they a FANTASTIC breed?!!!! They call them the clown of dog breeds. They're always trying to please-always trying to entertain you. You can't beat a boxer's eyes!

I have 2 fawn girls. We had a pretty tiger brindle girl, but had to put her down. I've had boxers my whole life and I show them too.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

aw that's such a nice idea-I know I have this fantasy of having a boxer adoption sanctuary!
there's a wonderful organization-boxerrescue .org or .com-and they have purebred boxers of all ages for adoption. SO cute! And great, healthy dogs too!
